1864 Confederate States of America $3 Bond Coupon
Year: 1864
Country: Confederate States of America
Type: Bond Interest Coupon
Denomination: $3
An original Confederate States of America $3 bond interest coupon, issued under the Act of February 17, 1864 during the American Civil War.
These coupons were attached to Confederate government bonds and represented the semi-annual interest payable to the bondholder. Once detached, they could be redeemed independently from the bond. Following the collapse of the Confederacy in 1865, the bonds and their coupons became financially worthless, but today they remain highly collectable pieces of Civil War financial history.
This example features the printed signature of Robert Tyler, Register of the Treasury, along with its original handwritten serial number.
