Hi, I'm Cam, a local collector and the person behind Coastal Coins.
Like a lot of collectors here, I grew tired of hunting for the coins and banknotes I wanted. So much of the good stuff was overseas, tucked away in auctions, or simply difficult to get hold of locally.
I also spent some time selling pieces from my own collection on TradeMe and quickly noticed something: Many of the buyers were from parts of New Zealand that don't have a local coin shop. It made me realise there are plenty of collectors who simply don't have easy access.
So instead of waiting for someone else to bring interesting material into New Zealand, I decided to start doing it myself.
Coastal Coins exists to make collecting a little easier. My goal is to regularly bring authentic coins and banknotes to New Zealand and give collectors of all experience levels access to quality material through a local online store.
Whether you're buying your very first silver coin, chasing that elusive key date, or you've been collecting for decades, I genuinely hope you find something here that catches your eye.
Not everything you'll see is the highest grade - and that's intentional. Collecting isn't just about perfect coins. It's about history, affordability, and owning pieces that mean something to you. I want Coastal Coins to have something for everyone, not just collectors with deep pockets.
My biggest passion is U.S. coins and currency, so that's where my main focus lies. I've built relationships with trusted suppliers in the US and aim to bring in fresh stock on a regular basis, rather than having the same handful of items sitting on the shelf. There's always more on the way.
